Overview
QuoteCache is a local-first, privacy-focused quotes collector app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have full control over your data.
We collect ZERO data.
Data Collection
We collect ZERO data. QuoteCache does not:
- ✗ Collect, store, or transmit your quotes to any server
- ✗ Track what you read or which books you quote from
- ✗ Require an account, email, or any personal information
- ✗ Use analytics, cookies, or tracking pixels
- ✗ Share or sell any information to third parties
Where Your Data Lives
All your data is stored locally on your device. This includes:
- Quote text, authors, book titles, page numbers
- Personal notes you add to quotes
- Tags, favorites, and organization preferences
- Theme settings and app preferences
- Widget configuration
Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (a feature we may add in the future, which would be entirely optional).
OCR and Text Recognition
When you scan a book page or photo:
- All text recognition (OCR) happens on your device using Apple's Vision framework (iOS) or Google's ML Kit (Android)
- Images are processed locally and never uploaded
- We do not store the original photos after extraction
- No image or text data is sent to any server
Subscriptions and Payments
If you subscribe to QuoteCache Premium:
- Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play)
- We receive only anonymous subscription status (active/expired/trial) from the platform
- We do not have access to your payment method, billing address, or personal information
- Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID or Google account, not to any QuoteCache account
Third-Party Libraries
QuoteCache uses the following on-device libraries:
- SQLite (Drift) — Local database for storing quotes
- Apple Vision / Google ML Kit — On-device text recognition (OCR)
- Flutter framework — Cross-platform app development
None of these libraries send data to external servers in the way we use them.
No Cloud Sync
QuoteCache does not sync your quotes to the cloud or across devices.
This is by design. We believe your reading notes are deeply personal and should stay on your device.
If you want to move quotes between devices, we may add an optional local export feature in the future (e.g., export to a file you can manually transfer). This would be entirely optional and under your control.
Children's Privacy
QuoteCache does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Because we don't collect data at all, we comply with COPPA by default.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our privacy policy (for example, if we add optional cloud sync), we will update this page and notify users via the app. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
